Privacy Policy — appliedpoliceresources.com

Effective date: August 1, 2026

1. What this policy covers. This policy describes how Applied Police Resources ("we," "us") handles personal information when you visit appliedpoliceresources.com, place an order, or contact us. The OnScene mobile application has its own privacy policy, available at appliedpoliceresources.com/pages/privacy — the App collects nothing and shares nothing, and that policy explains it in full.

2. What we collect. When you place an order we receive the information needed to fulfill it: your name, email address, billing and shipping address, phone number if you provide one, and a record of what you purchased. If you contact us, we receive whatever you include in your message. If you opt in to marketing email at checkout, we record that choice. Our storefront runs on Shopify, which collects standard technical information (IP address, browser, pages viewed) and sets the cookies necessary to operate the store, keep your cart, and prevent fraud.

3. Payment information. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments and the payment networks. We never see or store your card number.

4. Watermarking of digital purchases. Digital files purchased from us are delivered individually licensed to you. As a condition of that license, each delivered PDF is digitally stamped with your name, your email address, and your order number, and carries an embedded forensic marker. This is how we protect licensed material while selling it without DRM, and it means a copy of your purchase information travels inside the files delivered to you. Watermarked files are generated at delivery by our digital-delivery provider and are available to you through your order confirmation and account.

5. Who we share information with. We share personal information only with the service providers who make the store work: Shopify (storefront, checkout, payments), Alva Digital Downloads (digital file delivery and watermarking), and Lulu (printing and shipping of the hardcover book — they receive your name and shipping address to print and ship your order). Carriers receive shipping details to deliver packages. We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

6. Marketing email. We send marketing email only if you opted in, and every message includes an unsubscribe link. Order and delivery emails are sent to complete your purchase and are not marketing.

7. Retention. Order records are kept as long as needed for accounting, tax, license verification, and fraud-prevention purposes. Watermark records are retained for the life of the license so we can verify licensed copies. Correspondence is kept as long as useful to support you.

8. Your choices and rights. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete what we are not legally required to keep, by emailing support@appliedpoliceresources.com. Depending on where you live (including California, Virginia, the EU and UK), you may have additional statutory rights; we honor valid requests regardless of where you live. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.

9. Children. Our store sells professional reference material and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

10. Changes. We will post any changes here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted prominently.
