1. Overview
This Refund Policy explains when Applied Police Resources ("we," "us," or "our") issues refunds and replacements, and identifies the one category of purchase we are not able to refund at all. It applies to orders placed through appliedpoliceresources.com and should be read together with our Terms of Service.
Different rules apply to different products, because they are produced and delivered differently. The category that applies to your purchase is set out below.
2. Digital Products and License Files
Digital products — the PDF edition of The Investigator's Field Reference and Field Reference Series digital files — are delivered immediately, are licensed rather than sold, and are digitally stamped with the purchaser's name and order number. Because delivery is instantaneous and irreversible, digital purchases are not refundable once the file has been delivered or downloaded.
If you are purchasing from the European Union or the United Kingdom: by completing a purchase of a digital product you expressly request immediate delivery and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once delivery begins.
This limitation does not apply where:
- a technical fault prevented delivery, or the delivered file is corrupt or unreadable — we will redeliver the file, or refund it if we cannot;
- you were charged more than once for the same item;
- you purchased the wrong license tier and have not distributed the file — contact us and we will normally apply the amount paid toward the correct tier.
If a file will not open or download, contact us before requesting a refund. Most delivery problems are resolved the same day.
3. Printed Books and Posters
Printed products are produced to order by our print and fulfillment partners rather than held in stock. For that reason we do not accept change-of-mind returns on printed items.
We will replace or refund a printed item, at no cost to you, where it arrives damaged, defective, misprinted, or is not the item you ordered. Requests must be made within 30 days of delivery and should include your order number and photographs of the item and its packaging. Do not discard the item or the packaging until the claim is resolved.
If an order does not arrive within a reasonable period after the carrier's estimated delivery date, contact us and we will investigate with the carrier and reship or refund as appropriate.
4. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
Where an item qualifies under Section 3, you may choose a replacement or a refund. Replacements are produced and shipped at our expense. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. You will not be asked to return a damaged or misprinted item unless we specifically request it, in which case return shipping is at our expense.
5. OnScene Subscriptions — Purchased Through Apple
OnScene subscriptions, including the free trial, are sold and processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Applied Police Resources is not the merchant of record for these transactions. We do not process the payment, do not hold the funds, and have no technical ability to issue, approve, or decline a refund for an App Store purchase.
All refund requests for an OnScene subscription must be made to Apple, and Apple's refund policy governs the outcome. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your Apple ID purchase history.
You can cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID subscription settings, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not by itself generate a refund for the current period. If you cancel during a free trial before it ends, you are not charged.
We are glad to help you diagnose a problem with the App, and you should contact us if something is not working. We simply cannot move money on an Apple transaction.
6. Consulting and Professional Services
Consulting engagements are quoted and contracted individually. Fees, deposits, milestones, cancellation rights, and any refund entitlement are governed by the written proposal or engagement agreement for that engagement, which controls over this policy. Work already performed and expenses already incurred at the time of cancellation remain payable.
7. Order Cancellations
You may request cancellation of an order before it enters production or is dispatched, and before a digital file has been delivered. Because printed items enter production quickly, cancellation is not always possible; if production has begun, Section 3 applies instead. Contact us as soon as possible with your order number.
8. How to Request a Refund or Replacement
Email support@appliedpoliceresources.com with:
- your order number and the email address used at checkout;
- the item or items concerned;
- what went wrong; and
- for damaged or misprinted items, photographs of the item and packaging.
We aim to acknowledge requests within two business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method; the time it takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer. Shipping charges are refunded only where the entire order is being refunded because it was damaged, defective, or incorrect.
Purchase-order and invoiced agency orders are credited or refunded according to the terms on the applicable invoice.
