This policy covers the OnScene mobile app. Purchases made on this website are covered by our separate Store Privacy Policy.
Effective date: July 22, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Applied Police Resources ("Applied Police Resources," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the OnScene mobile application ("OnScene" or "the App").
OnScene is an offline, on-device application. It has no server component operated by Applied Police Resources, no user accounts or sign-in, and no analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting software of any kind. Applied Police Resources does not collect, receive, transmit, store, or have access to any information you enter into the App.
Because we do not receive your information, many obligations a privacy policy ordinarily addresses — disclosure to third parties, sale of personal information, server-side retention schedules — do not arise. This policy therefore explains what the App does on your device, the limited circumstances in which information leaves that device, and what those circumstances mean for you and your agency.
2. Scope
This policy applies to the OnScene application for iOS (iOS 16.0 and later), published by Applied Police Resources. Purchases made through our website at appliedpoliceresources.com are handled by our e-commerce provider and are governed by the store policy published on that site; this policy does not extend to them.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, and the App is not built to make it possible for us to collect:
- your name, contact details, agency affiliation, or credentials — the App has no accounts and no sign-in;
- the contents of any report, note, photograph, statute annotation, or other record you create in the App;
- usage, analytics, telemetry, diagnostic, or crash data;
- advertising identifiers. We do not serve advertising and do not track you across other applications or websites.
The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting software development kits.
4. Information Stored on Your Device
The following information is created by you and stored locally on your device only:
- Reports and field logs — incident details, suspects, victims, witnesses, evidence and property entries, checklist state, and narratives;
- Evidence photographs — images you capture or attach, retained in the App's private storage;
- Officer profile — the name, rank, badge number, unit, and agency you elect to enter;
- Application content and preferences — bookmarks, statute notes, recently viewed codes, jurisdiction selections, and display settings.
This information is not transmitted to Applied Police Resources or to any third party by the App. It remains on the device until you delete it or remove the App, except where you deliberately export or share it as described in Section 8.
5. Device Permissions
The App requests the following iOS permissions. Each is used solely to provide the feature you invoke, each is optional, and declining a permission disables only the associated feature.
- Camera and Photo Library — to capture or attach photographs to evidence and scene entries. Images are written to the App's local storage.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition — to dictate report narratives. Transcription is performed using Apple's on-device speech recognition; the App requires on-device recognition and will not begin dictation on a device that does not support it. Audio is not transmitted to Applied Police Resources or to any speech-recognition service, and audio recordings are not retained.
- Face ID or Touch ID — to enable the optional application lock. Biometric evaluation is performed by iOS. The App does not receive, process, or store biometric data; it receives only a success or failure result.
The App does not request or access location, contacts, calendar, health, motion, or Bluetooth data.
6. Network Communication
OnScene is designed to operate without connectivity. The App initiates network communication only in the following circumstances, none of which transmits your content to us:
- Statute data packs. Jurisdiction libraries are downloaded through Apple's On-Demand Resources, which is Apple infrastructure rather than a server operated by Applied Police Resources. No personal information is transmitted in the request. Once downloaded, a jurisdiction remains available offline.
- Subscription transactions. Purchases and trials are processed by Apple through StoreKit, as described in Section 7.
- Content you choose to share. Described in Section 8.
- Links you choose to open. Selecting a link opens our website in your browser.
7. Subscriptions and Payment
OnScene Pro subscriptions, including any free trial, are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. Applied Police Resources does not receive, view, or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID credentials, and Apple does not provide us with personally identifying purchase information. Subscription status is validated on your device through Apple's StoreKit framework. You may manage or cancel a subscription at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Reports and field logs you have created remain accessible and exportable regardless of subscription status.
8. Export and Sharing — User-Initiated Transfers
The App allows you to export a report as a PDF or plain-text file, copy content to the clipboard, and share exported content through the standard iOS share sheet to a destination you select.
Export is the only mechanism by which information you enter into OnScene can leave your device. The App performs no automatic, scheduled, or background transmission of your content. An export occurs only when you initiate it, and only to a destination you choose.
Once content is exported or shared, it passes outside the App and outside our control. Applied Police Resources does not receive a copy, is not a party to the transfer, and retains no record that it occurred. We do not know what was exported, when it was exported, or to whom it was sent. Accordingly, we cannot retrieve, recall, amend, or delete exported material, and we are unable to act on requests concerning it.
Exported material is governed by the terms of the destination service or system you selected and by your agency's records management, retention, and disclosure obligations. You and your agency are solely responsible for exported records, including their security, dissemination, and lawful handling.
9. Information Concerning Other People
Reports you create may contain information about third parties, including suspects, victims, and witnesses. That content is created and controlled entirely by you on your device, and Applied Police Resources never receives it. The collection, handling, retention, and disclosure of such records remain the responsibility of you and your agency under applicable law, agency policy, and any governing records schedule.
10. Device Backups
Reports, evidence photographs, and application data are stored using standard iOS local storage. If you have enabled iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups, this data may be included in those backups, in the same manner as data from other applications on your device. Such backups are created and controlled by Apple or by you; Applied Police Resources has no access to them. Downloaded statute packs are excluded from backup, as they can be re-downloaded. If your reports contain sensitive case information, you may wish to review your device's backup configuration and confirm that it is consistent with your agency's policy.
11. Retention and Deletion
Because Applied Police Resources holds no copy of your data, retention is entirely within your control. You may:
- delete an individual report at any time, with a recently deleted area from which it may be restored or permanently removed;
- clear all reports at once, subject to confirmation;
- remove all application data by deleting the App from your device.
The App has no user accounts, so there is no account for us to close or delete. Deletion within the App does not affect copies you have previously exported (see Section 8) or copies contained in device backups (see Section 10).
12. Security
Data is protected by iOS platform security, including your device passcode and iOS data protection. The App additionally offers an optional application lock secured by Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. We recommend maintaining a device passcode and enabling the application lock where reports contain sensitive information. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and device security ultimately depends on the configuration and physical control of the device.
13. Children's Privacy
OnScene is a professional reference tool intended for law enforcement and public safety personnel. It is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. Because the App collects no information from any user, we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Privacy laws in various jurisdictions, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, grant rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability with respect to personal information held by a business.
Applied Police Resources holds no personal information originating from the App. There is accordingly nothing for us to disclose, correct, delete, or port on your behalf, and no personal information for us to sell or share — we do not sell or share personal information. Your information exists only on your device and remains under your direct control, and the deletion mechanisms described in Section 11 are available to you at any time without request. Should you believe we hold information about you, you may contact us using the details in Section 16 and we will respond.
15. Changes to This Policy
If a future version of OnScene changes how information is handled — for example, if an optional synchronization or cloud feature is introduced — we will revise this policy, update the effective date above, and describe the change in the App's release notes before the change takes effect.
